Good morning/afternoon! Ladies and gentlemen, my dear friends,

    My name is Tony. I am 9. I'm from Kunming, Yunnan.

    You may already know that people also call Kunming "the Spring City". We have a pleasantly spring-like climate in 4 seasons. Why like that? One of the important reasons is that we luckily have a huge, natural air-conditioner. It is right lying by the side of Kunming city. We call it Dian Chi Lake.

    Today here, I would like to share with you one of my big dreams- to swim someday in Dian Chi Lake in my hometown Kunming.

    Oh, I can't do it now! You can see much, much dirty water coming from the city and flowing into the lake. The lake water is not clear anymore and lots of algae are floating on it. You can often see dead fish waving up and down in the dark blue water.

    My grandpa told me, when he was a young man, it was always a very happy and pleasant thing to do to swim in Dian Chi Lake. In those days, the water was clear and clean. "You can see fish swimming. When you swim, fish bite your toes sometimes!" Grandpa is always excitedly telling me that.

    I read some books about environmental protection. Now I know that the lake water has serious pollution problems, because it has many kinds of chemicals and wastes in it. A lot of fish died and many kinds of them are gone forever.

    For this problem, people in Kunming now are doing much work but the bad water does not change much still. I, too, want to do something for this.

    To make the lake water clean, I tried and made a model by myself to show my idea-- The dirty water comes in here, going through here for filtering and cleaning, and then after these, we get good water out from here. Now the clean water can go back to the lake. My teachers say this is a very good idea. By the way, could you help me find more and better ideas?

    I also read this from the books .Why do we have terrible pollution in Dian Chi Lake today? This is just because people in those old days did not make a good plan for their future days. I, from today, will try and learn my English well. And I plan to go to Canada and Holland in the future to study for environmental protection. I'm going to learn more and better ideas there. And I will find the best way to turn bad water into a good one, to make our Dian Chi Lake clean and clear again.

    For this, I think I can do something and let's do something.

    When fresh air breezes, when the clear blue water waves, when the day comes, I will say loudly to you, my friends from all over the world, "Hey, come and fish here in my home lake. And let's go swimming! "

    My dream will come true.
