记得上幼儿园中班时,老师就教我们唱“ABCDEFG…….., I can say my A.B.C”。
The Change
When I was six, I had my first taste of foreign travel, the essence of which lingered within my inquisitive mind. My parents realizing my passion for travel took me to many European countries, and since then I’ve been an avid explorer enhancing my knowledge of Europe’s cultural diversity. However during my explorative pursuits, the museums we visited left me feeling somewhat disappointed because there were only English, Korean, and Japanese voice guides and booklets. Was it because there weren’t enough Chinese tourists for the local tourist authority? In my innocence I had been far too presumptuous in thinking that the influence of China in Europe would be in cultural abundance.
Miraculously----- However, after a two year absence, I returned once again to face those idyllic settings that haunted my melancholic mind during my emotional incarceration, only to discover that the European tourist ministry had been most gracious in offering the Chinese an abundance of literature and paraphernalia to help aid the inquisitive traveler.
So why has there been such a phenomenal change in people finally recognizing China as a nation of international travelers? Is it because China’s economy has been booming over these years? After all, more and more Chinese do go abroad nowadays. It also appears that China’s status as a revolutionary country not just in terms of its scientific and technological advancements but also in its commerce has indeed flourished which made the European tourist authority far more a ware if the growing number of Chinese tourists. My travels to Europe are perfect evidence of China’s growing stature in the world.
